Rhino poachers arrested (State of Manipur, India)

Security forces and Karbi Anglong police led by Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong Debojit Deury arrested three absconding rhino poachers from a remote village under Dillai police station yesterday during undisclosed time.

The arrested poachers hail from Manipur, the rhino poachers have been identified as; Johnthang alias Thabgboi,  Muamuan alias Oversize and  Ningmianlun alias Lulun all from Churandpur district of Manipur.

The arrested persons have confessed to their involvement in the sensational Agoratoli rhino poaching case near Kagiranga national park that took place in the first week of May. They have also confessed to their involvement in five other rhino poaching cases in recent past.

The apprehended persons led to recovery of another A K series assault rifle (AK 81) from concealed underground place near a hill in close proximity to Kaziranga National Park.

It may be mentioned that cases are pending on various charges against the whole gang in Dolamara police station (Case No. 4/2020), Diphu police station (Case No. 110/2020) as well as Bokakhat police station (Case No. 131/2020).

“Such poachers are operating and our police force is also working with dedication to neutralize them. With this operation, one of the dangerous gang has been counter-acted,” Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong Debojit Deury said when contacted.
